Run for the Whales is the main event of a two-day festival promoted by Sanremo City Council and dedicated to the cetaceans of our seas. The “Whale Days” will take place on the 11th and 12th of June in Sanremo, in order to raise awareness about the extraordinary presence of cetaceans in the waters of the Sanctuary. Activities will include games, sporting events, a treasure hunt, presentations in multiple languages, a photography exhibition, a workshop and a whale-watching excursion.
In honour of its thirtieth anniversary, Tethys Research Institute will be the main organiser of the event. On top of carrying out research on cetaceans in the Ligurian sea for over a quarter of a century, Tethys was the first to propose the establishment of the Pelagos Sanctuary to the governments of Italy, France and the Principality of Monaco.
I am delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile event by providing imagery of whales for the photography exhibition.
